Final Self-Reflection

Getting started with this reflection I can talk about my improvement in citing sources and what website to use when finding information. At first, searching for sources was like a maze; just trying to find my way out. There were so many websites to choose from, and using the CCNY Library was tricky. But with the help of the professor, things start to become easier to navigate. In this essay, I’ll talk about the ups and downs of each assignment, like the Interview, Harlem Review and the Conference Paper. Writing isn’t exactly my favorite because I often find myself struggling with grammar and punctuation. Rarely, there are moments when I get so engrossed in my thoughts that I end up writing run-on sentences without even realizing it, but I’d supposed that’s a good thing.

I liked the Interview assignment because I could talk about myself and how we are slightly similar him and I, but I mainly liked this assignment because I was able to learn more about my partner, Brian. If I’m being honest, I thought this assignment would be hard to do because we both have different schedules, so I was afraid we weren’t going to able to the interview in person, but we managed to make it possible since we kept in contact. My interview assignment format was inspired by one of the professor’s examples she shared on Blackboard and how it could be displayed. It was much easier and simpler, so I chose to do it that way. Next is the Harlem Review. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be but what I struggled with was trying to stay on topic, I kept going off topic because I had a lot of things to say. It’s as if my thoughts kept going and my hands are the ones slowing me down, it was hard to try to catch up on what my thoughts were telling me to type. This tends to happen a lot when I’m very hooked on what I’m writing about and if I don’t write/type quickly it’ll fade away. One of my improvements on this assignment was finding sources, there were so many books and articles about my topic for the Harlem Review. It was hard to choose which is the right one which in the contrary is a good thing because whenever I do research it’s very hard for me to find sources that are related to my topic. Up next is the Conference paper, the conference paper was not so bad but sometimes it felt like I was the only one working on it or being left behind. As you know not everything can go smoothly when working with your peers online. One thing I can say is this group assignment was complicated, I say this because one person could be doing their part, but the other person is busy, there was also a lack of communication. Meaning no one really gave feedback to one another, it was more like independent work. So, that’s something I need to improve on, which is being more sociable, being able to lead and share my opinions, using my free time to improve our conference paper and etc. However, this was a nice experience because throughout the semester I didn’t really had the chance to lead a group project and although it seems like I didn’t do too good but I’m glad that I was able to lead and let my partners know what’s there to get done and what they need to work on.
